This is our first blog on this site, we run our own website www.stuckserving.com, and just stumbled upon this gem! One of our contributors has been in the industry for over 10 years and this is one of the craziest things to have happened in a restaurant yet. 

The cops talking to my mgr about the note…wish I had a picture dammit!!!!

Today was a very sloooooow Sunday, one of the slowest brunches I have worked in weeks. As we were all begging to be cut…I mean doing extra sidework, one of my coworkers shows me this crazy message that had been left on his table on the bottom of one of our coloring pages we print out for kids.

He had been serving a group of 5 or 6 with one smaller child and one around 20-23 aged young woman. The smaller child had been coloring and the back of the page had scrawls and sketches on it that maybe a 5 or 6 year old would draw ( I didn’t see the younger child). In a clear spot under the drawings there was written in very legible “adult-like” writing…”Help! I am a hostage. Please call 911!” The 911 part was underlined. None of the staff noticed this note until the group had been gone for about 5 mins and when it was brought to the attention of our manager she immediately called our building’s security who then called the police. Our hostess went through the building we are attached to and tried to identify them but they were long gone. The cops came and asked everyone questions that could help identify them and also took their credit card information from our computer system to help track them down.

Seriously one of the creepiest things ever, hopefully it was just a prank but honestly we are in the bay area and the Jaycee Dugard case came to everyone’s mind right away. You wouldn’t think a nice restaurant would be the place you would take your hostage but you never know! The police are supposed to get back to my manager and let her know if anything comes from the information we provided them with. Needless to say, the slow Sunday became a lot more interesting after that. Hopefully the cops get to the bottom of the matter and it was just someone playing a stupid prank! NOT FUNNY if so!!

The family was eventually found and pissed that we reported them to the cops because it was just a joke...um really funny!
