Also the owner said that he can do whatever he wants,just bcause of his sales,know he believes he is one of the managers or so,I know my sales on wine and liquors r good I want be best what can I do without making my other co-workers feel bad?

Don't run his food,be cool with him besides he is jealous,do it smart !!Find your own system to improve sales ...

good morning!! today i had some time to come around here and see what my co-fellows all over the world are talking about; this topic specially gets my attention, ´cause this is something that happens a lot, here, in portugal, where i live and i´m from; to start, sorry for my written english,it´s not so good as it should be, but once you understand what i´m saying, i´ll be happy; unfortunally, i don´t know how´s the sistem in other countrys, in restaurants and hotels, but, here, tell you what---competition between workers in a restaurant it´s the most "normal" thing that you have, and this is a very bad habit that usually is encouraged by the chiefs; once a waiter shows that is a good smooth talking, good worker(or appears to be) do reazonables salles, and specially is the one who tells to the chiefs what´s really going on between the other colleagues, you´re done! it´s usually the one who acts like if it is a chief, talks to you like that,and belive that´s the one who´s got the right to act like that, because is the chief himself that make him belive that! if you show some independance of opinions about the work, if you show that you can do as good as he does,or even better, and if you don´t obey him, (because you don´t have to)  starts to harass you, untill the point that you fall in discredit in front of the chiefs, co-workers, etc, sometimes to the point that starts also to affect your personnal life; personnaly, i don´t know if theres a universal way to deal with this kind of dangerous people; normally, i first complain about that attitude to my direct chief, if he doesn´t resolve the problem,i go straigth away to his superior and if even in that situation, things still the same, i just move for another job; unfortunally happens a lot to me! because of my personality, some say too much direct, to much frontal, to much impacient, i just can´t simply connive with this kind of people, but specially to the kind of a chief who´s not imparcial, and encourage this kind of work ambience! the saddest thing about this, is that here everybody says this a very normal thing, the one who´s in trouble to accept this is me, is better i get used to this, etc, and that´s the way that actually hotel and catering industry are here in portugal--we are very good in the way that we receive the tourists, but , internnally, this is not a job for a porcelain personality! from my point of view, good luck to solve your problem, and start to think if there´s another better place for you in some other better restaurant! cheers!
